Question by Pascha: For what kind of pork projects has your local government gotten federal grants or loans?
What is applied for in 2009?
Do you know who in your community will benefit? Does anyone ever hold public hearings or reveal the details to the public?
I don’t consider fixing bridges or other infrastructure affecting public health or safety to be pork, either, but plenty of other projects have little public benefit or don’t make sense, except for the economic benefit to the locally powerful.

I don’t consider rebuliding our crumbling bridges (and I mean LITERALLY crumbling) a pork project. We have a section of overpass that has dropped hundred pound pieces onto the road below. The US has neglected these projects WAY too long.
